Avionics

The Avionics subteam designs the critical flight electronics which include providing power to electrical devices in the rocket, sending important flight data obtained from different sensors on the rocket to people on the ground, and ensuring that the recovery and separation events happen at the right altitude. The Avionics subteam is essential to ensure a nominal flight and recovery. 

A typical Avionics member is

  • Interested in programming and software development

  • Interested in learning about student-researched and developed radios and custom antennas

  • Enthusiastic about prototyping hardware and PCB design

  • Curious about electronics and embedded systems

Current Projects

  • Research and Development of the next generation of our custom flight computer

  • Research and Development of custom radios and custom antennas

  • Development of our Ground Station GUI program

  • Research and Development of our first hardware-in-the-loop and simulation software

  • Research and Development of the antenna array system, as well as the control system for our first autonomous rocket tracking module.
